Let the Winds Blow You Home ...

Yo!

Happy to be back in the saddle.  Cruising to and from work with a smile on me face.  Albeit dark in the morning, and now, as well as the past two weeks, blistering hot in the evening (with WIND); I still pedal on with a smile. <~ Now that's some sentence structure!

By the way, this is what gas prices look like here in the middle of the country ...

P.S.  To the guy in a full Bianchi kit on Sunday morning (you know who you are).  It's not the cars fault when you run a red light and said car has a green arrow.  Quit running reds and giving us cyclist a bad rep with the cagers.  Yes, i just stuck up for a cager.  So be it.

There Comes a Time ...

Well well well, it has been a might while, no?  Bitter cold mornings, illness, laziness, etc ... All excuses on why I have been off the bike these past couple months.  I apologize.  I promise to make it right with you.

We just saw the dreaded Spring Forward event, which means the commute in is shrouded in inky black darkness.  While this is no fun, on the other end of the day we see much much more sun.  Yesterday the sun set at 7:30.

I like it.  SO, expect more posts coming soon.  Not too soon though, as I am on vacation starting Wednesday, March 14th through Sunday, March 17th.  I will be back in action the following Monday.

Have a great National Get a Leprechaun Drunk Day.

Bicycle Safety

If you feel down in the dumps or need a mid-day pick me up, please check out this 1940s bicycle safety manual.

Monday Morning Snow

Still snowing here in the frozen wasteland of Omaha.  This means the bike sits snugly in its coral. The last time I rode, if you remember that long ago, I had a run in with my favorite driver:

Well, this recent post appeared on a San Fransisco community webumatic page.

I also see Yehuda Moon got in on the driver v. cyclist fun too.

Good times.  Hope to get out there and see ya as soon as the big freeze is over.

Snowmageddon! Snowmageddon!

Should be a hell of a fun weekend if the predictions stand.  Up to a foot of snow by Sunday according to the forecast.  Can't wait.

I've been slowly getting back into the cycling after battling the sickness of all sicknesses for most of January.  The weather has helped.  This past week set records for warmth during this time of the year.  Nice to open the windows, get out of the flat, get on the bicycle and ride.

And of course, I had a sighting of my favorite cager and his little sky blue SUV:

This time he yelled something about dancing in the street.  I am beginning to wonder about this driver's sanity.  I wonder if he is British ...

Bad Days Above The Bike Path

Arrived at work today and went about my normal routine, which consists of wiping sweat off with my co-workers cardigan (before they arrive), making a mug of tea, and pouring over e-mail that doesn't concern me yet clogs my inbox.

As I made my way back to my desk from the tea making, I saw what appeared to be fire and rescue responders descending on the bridge outside my window. Below that bridge is a busy multi-use path that spans north/south across the city.

Well, it appears that sometime in the wee hours, a man killed himself.  Sad news as he leaves behind a wife and three children.

Here is the story from the local paper.

Always remember the good things in your life those are the things that really matter ...

Back In The Saddle With You

Hello boys and girls.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.  It's a beautiful day for a bike ride.  It's a beautiful day to commute to work via bicycle. It felt damn good to be back in the saddle.

I am starting to feel better and should be back in the saddle after taking this past month off to recoup.  I start to go stir crazy when I sit at home/in my cube too long without fresh air and a saddle under my backside.  I promise to bring you fresh content and photos soon enough.

The winter lull/flu epidemic has given me time to do some well needed maintenance on the bikes. The usual cleaning, lubing, greasing, pumping, tightening, adjusting, etc ...

If you find yourself in need of a adjustment or repair while in the Midtown area, be sure to check out UNO's cool new set-up. Out of the elements too.

Keep up the cycling and keep it safe ...
